Polygon Boosts Staking Rewards to 7.7% Amid $3 Trillion Stablecoin Milestone
The Polygon Foundation has announced that PIP-92 is now officially activated, temporarily raising the reward rate for POL holders who stake on the Polygon proof-of-stake network.
According to the Polygon Foundation announcement, higher POL staking rewards will run until December 1, 2026. The estimated gross reward rate is about 7.7% a year, up from the baseline near 3%. This means that stakers can earn significantly more POL tokens for participating in the network.
The Polygon Improvement Proposal (PIP-92) aims to give more people a reason to stake, which helps secure the network. The boost uses 27.3 million POL in priority fees collected earlier from the network.
The Polygon price has remained relatively stable, with market trackers showing POL between $0.11 and $0.12 in recent sessions. However, it is unclear whether higher staking rewards will have a significant impact on the price.
