Polygon Burns 100 Million POL Tokens to Reduce Supply

Polygon has permanently burned 100 million POL tokens, reducing its total supply by about 1%. This reduction was completed on September 24.

The Polygon Foundation CEO Sandeep Nailwal confirmed that the tokens had been destroyed, and this move directly affects the token's supply. However, no schedule for future burns was provided.

Nailwal also stated that community members could trigger a burn contract, which was made available for execution. This suggests that Polygon may consider conducting POL burns on a regular basis, possibly once every quarter.
