Polygon Burns 100M POL Tokens, Reduces Supply by Nearly 1%

Polygon's co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has announced that nearly 1% of POL's total supply has been permanently removed from circulation. The burn, which totals 100 million $POL tokens, is a significant move for the project.

According to Polygon's tokenomics, the burned tokens can never be sold, reducing selling pressure and increasing scarcity in the market. This means that fewer $POL tokens remain in circulation, potentially strengthening POL's long-term tokenomics.

Nailwal notes that while the burn is a positive development for the project, it may not immediately lead to a price boost for POL. The token still requires sustained demand and network growth to drive up its value.
