The Polygon Foundation has announced a plan to retire 100 million POL tokens from circulation. This move aims to reduce the supply of tokens and make the network more deflationary, according to CEO Sandeep Nailwal.

The contracts for this burn are currently on testnet, but once they receive final Security Council signatures, they will be moved to mainnet. At that point, any community member can trigger the first burn, removing 100 million tokens from circulation.

Nailwal also mentioned a collector that gathers POL tokens from fees, which has reached 121 million POL so far. He noted that Polygon's revenue figures are ahead of other networks, including Arbitrum and NEAR, with $24.5 million in revenue for the year to date compared to $8.41 million for Arbitrum and $5.6 million for NEAR.

Polygon's price has been steadily rising, currently sitting at around $0.1043 on CoinMarketCap, up 4.42% in the last 24 hours. However, it is essential to note that this plan looks modest against the total supply of tokens, and its impact on the market remains to be seen.
