Polygon Labs has expanded its Open Money Stack by integrating Solana, creating a payments platform that links bank accounts with crypto transfers and payouts. This development follows Solana's recent Alpenglow consensus upgrade, which reduced transaction finality from about 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds. The platform allows businesses to manage funds across multiple blockchains, including Polygon, Ethereum, and TRON, while also supporting bank accounts, cards, and crypto wallets.
Kira, a company that facilitates stablecoin transactions, is among the first to adopt the Solana integration. Kira CEO Edrizio De La Cruz highlighted how the integration enables clients to convert stablecoin transfers into dollars for supplier payments. The Open Money Stack also supports stablecoin conversions and global payouts, enhancing its utility for businesses.
The integration comes as stablecoins continue to gain traction, with the total supply nearing $290 billion. Tether's USDT leads with over $182 billion, followed by Circle's USDC at nearly $76 billion. Solana Foundation Chief Product Officer Vibhu Norby noted that the network processed over $5.5 trillion in stablecoin volume in 2026, emphasizing the importance of connecting Solana to bank accounts and global payout networks.
Polygon's recent acquisition of Coinme, which provided money transmission licenses in 48 U.S. states, further strengthens its position in the payments space. The Open Money Stack offers businesses a streamlined way to access these capabilities, complementing existing infrastructure within the Solana ecosystem.
