Polygon Price Surges 9% on Permanent Token Burn Announcement
Polygon (POL), formerly known as MATIC, has seen its price surge by nearly 9% following an announcement from the Polygon Foundation. The foundation plans to permanently burn 100 million POL tokens pending Security Council approval. This move is aimed at increasing token scarcity and aligning with efforts to expand into stablecoin-based payments.
The protocol generated $24.5 million in revenue, with large holders selling over 30 million POL during a recent rally. The current price of POL is $0.113, trading above its short-, medium-, and long-term moving averages. This bullish momentum is further supported by the fact that the MACD and ADX forecast further upside.
However, caution is advised as the RSI, Stochastic RSI, and CCI all point to overbought conditions, indicating a heightened risk of a near-term pullback. Traders should monitor the $0.1142 resistance for a potential breakout toward the upper end of the projected short-term range.
