Polygon Surpasses 8 Billion Transactions, Accelerates Growth
Polygon has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 8 billion cumulative transactions since its inception. These transactions are processed at an extremely low cost of around $0.002 per transaction and take place within seconds. This achievement highlights Polygon's position as one of the leading crypto transaction settlement layers.
The network's growth has accelerated sharply, with a notable increase of 460 million transactions in just a few months. In Q2 2026, Polygon processed an impressive 743 million transactions, marking a 160% increase from the previous year. May 2026 also set a record for stablecoin volume and transactions, with $80 billion in stablecoin volume and 198 million stablecoin transactions.
Polygon's focus on payments has contributed to its rapid growth, with major players like Visa and Meta recognizing its potential. Visa recently included Polygon in its pilot program for settlement, while Meta began using USDC through Polygon for content creator payments. Revolut also reported over 1.2 billion on-chain activities.
Looking ahead, Polygon aims to expand its capabilities with the launch of Open Money Stack, an increase in gas limit from 160 million units, and assessment of the stablecoin market's potential impact on demand for POL, the native cryptocurrency of the network.
