Polygon Updates Lugano Hardfork and Claims Record Payments Speed
Polygon's latest news reveals updates on two key fronts, according to recent posts from the Polygon Foundation and CEO Sandeep Nailwal. The first update comes from PPGC 46, the 46th Polygon Protocol Governance Call, which covered two main items: PIP-92 and the Lugano hardfork.
PIP-92 addresses how POL rewards reach delegators, the token holders who stake through validators instead of running their own nodes. While the proposal is still in its current state, with no confirmed timeline for a vote or rollout, it aims to improve distribution of POL to these stakeholders.
The Lugano hardfork, on the other hand, has made significant progress. It has already been deployed on Amoy, Polygon's public testnet, and is targeting mainnet deployment by October 1. For technical details, validators can refer to a support ticket page provided by the Foundation.
In another update, Polygon announced that it has reached a new milestone: processing 11 million payments per second. This figure was described as 'live on Polygon today' and framed around agent-driven payments rather than typical user transactions. While this number is significant, its methodology remains unclear, and readers should treat it with caution until further details are provided.
