Polygon's Agent Pay Channels Process Over 11 Million Small Payments Per Second
Polygon Labs has developed 'Agent Pay Channels,' a payment channel designed for high-frequency small payments by AI agents. In testing, the system processed over 11 million verified payment updates per second using 25 nodes.
AI agents are software that can execute tasks based on human instructions or other inputs. Polygon Labs explained that in some cases, hundreds of small payments could occur when an AI agent performs a single task by purchasing multiple services or APIs from different providers.
The Agent Pay Channels separate payment processing speed and frequency from the blockchain, allowing payers to pre-fund a payment channel on Polygon. The system updates payment information each time an AI agent uses a service, with accumulated payments settled collectively on the Polygon Chain.
