Ponomarev Seeks Safer Crypto Lending Tools

XPlace CEO Artem Ponomarev believes that digital wealth needs safer paths to liquidity. Currently, DeFi lending protocols hold over $42 billion in total value locked.

Ponomarev wants investors to be able to access liquidity without selling their long-term digital-asset positions. This is already possible with crypto-backed borrowing tools, but he thinks they need to be more robust and user-friendly.

'In traditional finance, borrowing against assets is completely normal,' Ponomarev said. 'Investors borrow against securities or property because they don't necessarily want to sell a long-term position every time they need liquidity.'
