Pons Plunges 10% Amid Whale Selling and Network Activity Decline
Pons (PONS) has been experiencing a significant decline in value over the past 24 hours, dropping by more than 10%. This downturn comes as part of a broader correction in the crypto market, which had been experiencing an uptrend since August.
The token's decline is attributed to whale selling activity, with one whale offloading approximately 5.34 million PONS for 1,315 Ethereum (ETH) worth $3.60 million on Uniswap and KyberSwap DEXs. This transaction resulted in a loss of $578K for the whale.
The selling pressure is also compounded by a sharp decrease in network activity, as reflected in the fees generated. Revenue has dropped from a peak of $11.24 million in early September to $2.37 million currently, representing a 5x decline over 19 days.
The lower revenue has led to a reduced burn rate, with only 440K PONS being permanently removed from circulation in the past 24 hours, which represents 0.044% of the total supply.
