PowerCompute Expands Mississippi Site Power Capacity Under New TVA Tariff
PowerCompute, Inc. (Nasdaq: PWCM) has increased its contracted power at its Columbus, Mississippi site from 8.5 megawatts to 11 megawatts under a new power contract with Columbus Light and Water. The contract, effective October 1, 2026, transitions the site to the Tennessee Valley Authority's (TVA) Large Data Service Rate, Schedule DCB, which is designed for data centers and includes Bitcoin mining operations. The move allows PowerCompute to avoid the new $1.5 million per megawatt capacity commitment charge that would apply to new or expanded data center loads above the first five megawatts under TVA's new tariff.
Bruce M. Rodgers, Chairman, CEO, and President of PowerCompute, highlighted the strategic advantage of the early transition: 'We proactively moved to the data center rate on our own, before October 1 ahead of the changes taking effect. Our contracted power at Columbus went from 8.5 megawatts to 11 megawatts and we were not assessed a capacity commitment charge on any of it.' The company also benefits from the return of a $300,000 power deposit, which will be used for capacity buildout at the Columbus site.
The Columbus site currently holds approximately 2,373 installed Antminer machines with a total hashrate of around 205 PH/s as of September 30, 2026. PowerCompute operates a total of 26 megawatts of electrical capacity across two sites: 15 megawatts in Calumet, Oklahoma, and 11 megawatts in Columbus, Mississippi. The company monetizes its electrical capacity through Bitcoin mining and, in Oklahoma, through GPU compute rented on the Vast.ai marketplace.
PowerCompute views Bitcoin mining and high-performance computing (HPC) as alternative ways to monetize its electrical infrastructure. The company has shifted its focus to acquiring and monetizing low-cost electrical infrastructure, increasing Bitcoin mining production and efficiency, and developing HPC and AI computing capacity following the repayment and termination of a Bitcoin-backed credit facility announced on September 30, 2026.
