PPI Data Release Triggers Bitcoin Sell-Off Below $78,000
The US Producer Price Index (PPI) data has been released, and Bitcoin's initial reaction was to fall below $78,000. This comes ahead of several key macroeconomic developments expected in the coming week, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data release tomorrow.
According to analysts, a lower-than-expected PPI figure could be seen as a sign that inflationary pressures have eased, potentially leading to a strengthened likelihood of an interest rate cut. In this scenario, Bitcoin and other risky assets may react positively. Conversely, a higher-than-expected PPI figure could weaken expectations of an interest rate cut, creating short-term selling pressure on Bitcoin.
The released data showed that the Core Producer Price Index (Annual) came in at 4.6%, matching expectations but up from 4.2% previously. The Producer Price Index (Monthly) announced a 0.4% increase, meeting expectations but down from 0.5% previously.
