Praxis Picks Uruguay Site for Futuristic City Project

Praxis, a New York-based startup founded by Dryden Brown and Charlie Callinan, has chosen Uruguay as the site for its AI-powered city. The project aims to welcome initial residents by mid-2027 and plans to invest $1 billion over the next three years.

The site is located at +Colonia, a 515-hectare waterfront development near Colonia del Sacramento, roughly an hour's ferry ride from Buenos Aires. Construction began in 2022, with 120 hectares of infrastructure already developed. Praxis will acquire land for its specific parcels in late 2027.

The project blends Silicon Valley futurism with a nostalgic attachment to classical Western aesthetics, aiming to create a community centered around 'AI-enhanced governance' and cultural institutions designed for the post-AGI future.
