Primal Tactica Demo Launches on Steam Powered by Illuvium IP
Errata Studio has launched a free demo of Primal Tactica, a single-player roguelike autobattler, on Steam. The game, which features licensed creatures from Illuvium, debuted on October 5 and is described as blending elements of Pokémon, Teamfight Tactics, and Slay the Spire. Players build teams from over 200 Primals, evolving them and using Relics and Augments to create unique strategies in turn-based battles. The demo is currently Windows-only but supports six languages, with the full game planned to include four more.
The full version of Primal Tactica is expected to enter Early Access in Q4 2026, with a development period lasting six months to a year. According to Illuvium co-founder Kieran Warwick, most of the game’s revenue will go to Illuvium, aligning with their February licensing agreement. This deal allows Errata Studio to develop a web3-free version of Illuvium’s IP for Steam while retaining significant revenue after platform fees.
Primal Tactica is one of four products Illuvium planned to release this year, alongside updates for Illuvium Beyond, Beyond Chaos, and Loadout. The studio has also implemented cost-cutting measures, including wage reductions, to extend its operational runway beyond 12 months. Despite these efforts, the release date for Illuvium’s Overworld MMO remains unspecified, though it was previously targeted for December 2026.
