Privacy Coin Market Surges Past $30 Billion as Institutional Demand Rises
The market capitalization of privacy coins has grown nearly fivefold over the past year to around $30 billion, according to a research note from 21Shares. This growth is largely driven by Zcash, which has led gains and now accounts for roughly $25 billion in market value.
According to CoinGecko, the current value of privacy coins is even higher at approximately $36.9 billion, with Zcash making up nearly three-quarters of that total.
The 21Shares report also highlighted the importance of confidentiality in blockchain use, particularly for institutional investors who may be exposed by public transaction histories.
Other notable developments include Ethereum's and Solana's development of privacy-focused features, such as private reads, writes, and proving on Ethereum and Confidential Balances on Solana. Canton Network has also been gaining traction with over 1,000 participants supporting more than $8 trillion in tokenized securities activity each month.
DTCC plans to launch its Tokenization Service in October, which will utilize the Canton network for some of its production trades.
