Pro-Crypto Super PAC Fairshake Endorses Alabama Rep Terri Sewell

Fairshake, a pro-cryptocurrency super PAC, has added U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell to its list of endorsed candidates ahead of the midterm elections. The group, which supports bipartisan candidates, will back 32 House candidates, including 13 Democrats and 19 Republicans. Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter emphasized the group's focus on supporting pro-crypto innovation across both parties.

While the exact amount Fairshake will spend on Sewell's reelection campaign is unclear, the PAC plans to allocate $1 million each to six candidates, three from each party. Sewell, who is running against Republican Ammie Akin, is considered the clear frontrunner in Alabama's 7th District, according to the Cook Political Report.

Fairshake and its affiliated PACs have substantial financial resources, with about $120 million cash on hand as of August. The group has also been active in Alabama's U.S. Senate race, spending heavily to support Republican Barry Moore's campaign. Additionally, the Democratic-affiliated super PAC, Protect Progress, spent $2.4 million to support Rep. Shomari Figures' 2024 campaign.

All of Alabama's House delegation, including Sewell, voted in favor of the CLARITY Act, which aims to establish federal rules for digital assets. Although the bill passed the House last year, it stalled in the Senate last month due to lack of support. Stand with Crypto, an advocacy group, has ranked Sewell as 'strongly supportive' of the crypto industry. Vetter noted that Fairshake has won 53 of the 57 races it has spent on this cycle.
