Protocol Labs Pulls Plug on InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) Funding
Protocol Labs has decided to end its funding for the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), leading to the winding down of IPFS work at a shipyard. The move comes after Protocol Labs reassessed its priorities and determined that it would no longer be providing financial support for the project. As a result, the shipyard is ceasing its involvement with IPFS.
The news marks an important development in the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem, as IPFS was designed to enable decentralized storage and retrieval of data on the internet. The project's goals align closely with those of Protocol Labs, which focuses on developing open-source technologies for decentralized systems.
IPFS aims to create a more resilient and secure way of storing and sharing files online by using a distributed network of nodes. By ending its funding, Protocol Labs is essentially pulling the plug on this vision for decentralized data storage.
