Publicly traded companies have been reassessing their digital asset strategies in 2026. According to Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at VanEck, several companies that adopted Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) strategies have abandoned or adjusted their Bitcoin reserve policies.

Satsuma Technology and Bitdeer are among those that sold all of their Bitcoin holdings. Prenetics, Genius Group, Vaultz Capital, and MAIA Biotechnology also liquidated their entire digital asset portfolios.

Other companies like MARA Holdings, Strategy, Nakamoto, Smarter Web Company, and Cango have made partial sales to repay debt or supplement working capital. Exodus and DigitalX shifted from passive holding to active management of their digital assets.
