Pump.fun Liquidates Another $5.83M in SOL as Cumulative Toll Tops $848M
Pump.fun, a platform that has become synonymous with Solana's memecoin frenzy, has sold another 47,994 SOL worth approximately $5.83 million. This sale brings the platform's total cumulative liquidations to over $848 million, a staggering figure that eclipses many DeFi protocols' lifetime revenue.
The platform generates income through fees on token launches and trades on its permissionless launchpad, with a consistent 1% fee applied across transactions. Pump.fun's revenue has surpassed $1 billion, with the majority of this haul concentrated in 2025 during the memecoin frenzy.
Unlike some platforms that choose to hold onto their SOL holdings, Pump.fun has adopted a liquidation approach, selling batches ranging from 50,000 to 130,000 SOL per tranche. The average sale price across these liquidations has hovered between $160 and $175 per SOL, with the platform having liquidated over 5.1 million SOL for approximately $834 million by early September 2026.
The introduction of the PUMP token through an ICO in July 2025 added a new dimension to Pump.fun's financial architecture. The token incorporates a buyback-and-burn mechanism that channels 50% of the platform's net revenue back into purchasing and permanently destroying PUMP tokens, with roughly $457 million allocated toward these buybacks and burns so far.
