PUMP Whales Accumulate Millions as Token Rallies and Futures Volume Surges
Major holders of the cryptocurrency PUMP have significantly increased their activity as the token's price surged. Two large wallets accumulated a combined 572.56 million PUMP, worth approximately $3.58 million, while futures trading volume exceeded $1 billion. Blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain identified the transactions, including a purchase by a wallet called netherlol, which bought 383.34 million PUMP for about $2.4 million. This was the wallet's first PUMP acquisition in over a year. Another wallet, GnZqfY, withdrew 189.22 million PUMP, valued at roughly $1.18 million, from the exchange MEXC.
PUMP's price rose by around 17.5% in 24 hours, reaching near $0.006426. The token had gained about 46% over seven days, 294% over 90 days, and more than 235% since January. The rally pushed PUMP's market capitalization to approximately $3 billion. The increase in whale activity coincided with a sharp rise in derivatives trading, suggesting substantial leveraged-market participation. Futures volume reached $1.04 billion, about 8.6 times the spot-market turnover.
Liquidations totaled about $3.14 million during the same 24-hour period, with short positions accounting for approximately 78% of those liquidations. Recent trading activity among large PUMP holders has produced mixed outcomes. On October 3, a sudden decline in PUMP liquidated two traders whose combined positions represented 707.6 million tokens, valued at an estimated $3.61 million. Meanwhile, some large traders have generated substantial profits from PUMP's advance, with one trader realizing approximately $827,000 in profit from a long position.
The reported transactions and trading figures illustrate increased participation surrounding PUMP's recent rally. However, the data does not establish whether the buying activity will continue.
