PUMP Whales Deploy $3.6 Million as Futures Volume Tops $1 Billion
Two large PUMP token wallets accumulated a combined 572.56 million tokens worth around $3.58 million in a single day, according to blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain. This surge in whale activity comes as PUMP continues its impressive rally, with its price rising 17.5% over the past 24 hours to around $0.006426. The token's price has more than tripled in the past 90 days, reaching a market capitalization of approximately $3 billion.
The larger purchase came from a wallet known as netherlol, which acquired 383.34 million PUMP tokens for around $2.4 million. This was netherlol's first PUMP purchase in over a year, signaling a notable shift in positioning after a prolonged absence.
The combined whale accumulation represents a small fraction of PUMP's overall trading activity, with derivatives markets dominating spot trading. PUMP futures turnover exceeded $1.04 billion during the reported 24-hour period, roughly 8.6 times the spot volume of $121.39 million.
The concentration of derivatives activity relative to spot trading suggests a market heavily influenced by leverage, which can amplify both rallies and corrections. The 8.6-to-1 futures-to-spot ratio indicates that directional bets on PUMP's price are being expressed primarily through perpetual contracts and other derivative instruments.
