Quant Crypto Surges 178% on US Banking Deal
Quant's cryptocurrency has seen an explosion in value over the past week, rising by approximately 178%. The surge is attributed to a significant deal with US banks, particularly The Clearing House, which selected Quant to power its On-Chain Money Initiative. This infrastructure aims to enable financial institutions to clear and settle tokenized deposits while integrating with existing payment systems.
The partnership between Quant and The Clearing House is substantial, as it involves a major role in the US banking system. The Clearing House's scale is vast, clearing and settling over $2 trillion every day. While Quant isn't directly processing this amount of transactions, its technology will be used for the new On-Chain Money Initiative, which is expected to launch in the first half of 2027.
The US deal follows Quant's work with major UK banks, including Barclays and HSBC, on the UK's tokenized sterling deposits project. This initiative involves live transactions of tokenized commercial bank deposits and ensures interoperability between bank ledgers and existing payment systems.
