Quant's Overledger and Fusion Rollup Connect 74 Blockchains for Banks
Quant is a British company that provides an intermediary layer for banks and public authorities to connect with multiple blockchains without committing to a single chain. Its primary product, Overledger, acts as an abstraction layer, allowing applications to interact with various networks through a single interface. This eliminates the need for banks to develop and maintain separate applications for each blockchain, reducing costs and complexity.
In June 2026, Quant introduced the Fusion Rollup, a shared execution environment that connects 74 different networks, including public chains like Ethereum and Bitcoin, as well as enterprise chains like Hyperledger Fabric and R3 Corda. The Fusion Rollup is designed to lower costs and increase throughput by bundling operations and writing only the results back to the main chains. This technology promises to address security, legal, and settlement issues that traditional bridges face.
On September 24, 2026, The Clearing House, a settlement body for large US banks, selected Quant as a technology partner for a network of tokenized deposits. This initiative is backed by 25 major US institutions and is expected to launch in the first half of 2027. Quant also collaborates with Murex, a software provider, to integrate its technology into existing banking systems, aiming to streamline the settlement of tokenized assets.
The QNT token plays a crucial role in Quant's business model. Using Overledger requires an annual license fee paid in QNT tokens, which are locked for the duration of the license. This mechanism helps regulate the token's supply and supports its value within the Quant ecosystem.
