Raiffeisen and Bitpanda Launch Pan-European Crypto Framework
Austrian bank Raiffeisen and cryptocurrency broker Bitpanda have partnered to bring crypto services to 18 million customers across Central and Eastern Europe. The partnership uses Bitpanda Enterprise's technology, which allows banks to integrate crypto into their own apps without requiring customers to open separate accounts.
The agreement creates a common infrastructure for Raiffeisen's network of subsidiary banks, allowing them to offer crypto services when it is right for their local market conditions and regulations. This means that each bank will decide what to offer its customers and when, rather than launching a simultaneous regional rollout.
The partnership builds on a model already tested in Austria, where Raiffeisen's Niederösterreich-Wien branch was the first major traditional bank in the EU to offer crypto services through Bitpanda. This expansion could be one of the broadest group-wide crypto rollouts by a traditional European banking group to date.
