Raydium Expands LaunchLab to Any Token Pair on Solana, Raises Regulatory Questions
Raydium, a decentralized exchange and liquidity venue on Solana, has expanded its LaunchLab platform to support any token pair available on its infrastructure. This move allows new Solana tokens to launch against various assets, including tokenized equities and other assets.
The expansion was announced on September 6, following StonkFun's decision on September 5 to use LaunchLab for all its new deployments. StonkFun reported that this reduced deployment costs from 0.29 SOL to 0.03 SOL, lowered sniper risk, and allowed liquidity to compound after bonding.
The expanded pairing model enables new tokens to use assets beyond SOL and stablecoins, including tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This could broaden decentralized-exchange activity beyond memecoins while creating additional regulatory questions. If a tokenized product is treated as a security, the issuer, trading venue, or liquidity provider may face securities-law obligations depending on the jurisdiction and the product's structure.
Raydium's role as a venue for new Solana assets has been further solidified with this expansion, which includes support for Injective's Solana-based INJ token. However, it is unclear whether tokenized equities caused any increase in Raydium revenue; broader Solana activity, StonkFun-related launches, and speculative trading may also contribute.
