RBI's Crypto Deal May Reach 18 Million Customers, But Many Remain in the Dark
Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) has partnered with Bitpanda to offer cryptocurrency services to its customers across 11 Central and Eastern European markets. The agreement, announced on September 23, could potentially reach 18 million customers, but it's unclear how many of them will be able to trade.
The RBI group has a total of 18.8 million customers, as of June 30, but not all of them may have access to the cryptocurrency services offered through Bitpanda. The bank has subsidiaries in 11 markets, including EU members Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.
Bitpanda will supply infrastructure for RBI's banks to offer digital assets, but each bank will decide individually when to launch the service. The Austrian model, which already offers Bitpanda access through Mein ELBA app, is seen as a precedent for the new agreement.
