RealFi Targets October 1 Mainnet Launch as Hoskinson Pushes Adoption
Cardano's RealFi project is setting its sights on an October 1 mainnet launch, according to recent updates. The reserve-backed dollar project has been advancing toward deployment, and Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson is urging the crypto industry to focus on adoption rather than waiting for broad legislation.
The launch of RealFi remains conditional on meeting regulatory, operational, and commercial requirements. The project is built around a reserve-backed dollar instrument with separate unstaked and staked versions. The unstaked version will hold liquid assets, including tokenized money-market funds and liquid AAA-collateralized loan obligation exchange-traded funds.
The staked version may include private credit and has a seven-day cooldown period. In August, RealFi's investment team began acquiring reserve assets, and its stablecoin mint reached the seven-figure range. The project previously moved about $100,000 through venues and wallets during what John O'Connor described as its 'hardening phase.'
Cardano currently holds around $68 million in stablecoins, with native stablecoins accounting for roughly $22 million and bridged assets representing about $43 million. Hoskinson discussed RealFi's development while addressing the stalled U.S. crypto market-structure bill.
