Realio Network Halted After $125M Token Heist
Realio Network, a platform that enables tokenization of real-world assets, has halted its web app and native chain after suffering a major security breach. The attack, which occurred on August 25 at 10:38 UTC, resulted in the theft of approximately 124.4 million RIO tokens from platform-controlled wallets and user accounts.
The hackers targeted signing capabilities on Realio.fund interface to gain access to the tokens. They then transferred the stolen assets across five networks: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Algorand, Stellar, and the Realio native chain itself.
According to an analysis by realiostats.com, 113.7 million RIO tokens were taken from treasury and reserve holdings that were previously excluded from circulating supply figures. This represents a significant portion of the total amount stolen, which is estimated to be around 3.3% of the previously circulating supply.
The Realio team has confirmed that they are actively investigating the breach and working towards recovery. However, the specifics of any compensation or token management plan have not been confirmed at this time.
