Red Cat Stock Falls Amid Market Volatility, But Retail Traders See Iran Conflict Opportunity
Red Cat Holdings' shares fell over 3% on Monday to near a two-month low, but retail investors on Stocktwits remain optimistic about the company's prospects.
The drop in stock price came amid a broader market sell-off sparked by escalating U.S.-Iran tensions. However, despite this decline, sentiment on Stocktwits shifted from 'bearish' to 'bullish', with some traders betting that the conflict could drive higher demand for military drones.
CENTCOM confirmed that it used 'one-way attack sea drones' in a recent strike against Iranian targets, although it did not specify which manufacturer's product was used. However, Militarnyi reported that it is 'likely' the Variant 7 sea drone variant, manufactured by Red Cat, was employed.
Red Cat CEO Jeffrey Thompson had earlier pointed to the Strait of Hormuz as a key example of growing demand for unmanned maritime systems, stating that his company anticipated this type of weapon system. The company has also been invited to participate in a bid for a 1,300-unit unmanned surface vessel program in Taiwan.
