Reform UK Lands £72m Crypto Windfall Ahead of General Election
Nigel Farage's Reform UK party has received £72 million in donations from two crypto billionaires, Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne, over the past 48 hours.
The massive influx of funds gives the party a significant boost ahead of the next general election, with Farage stating that the money will be used to prepare Reform for government.
Farage wrote in the Mail on Sunday, 'The money will be used for one purpose only: to make certain we are ready to form a government at the next election.'
The donations have been met with opposition from government MPs, who argue that the government should have acted faster to introduce a domestic donation cap.
Robert Jenrick, Treasury spokesperson, denied suggestions that part of Reform UK's agenda is being pro-crypto, stating that the donors want 'proper regulation' of cryptocurrency, which he described as a 'wild west in many respects.'
