Reform UK Lands Massive Crypto Donation from BitMEX Co-Founder

Share

British crypto billionaire Ben Delo has donated £36 million to Nigel Farage's Reform UK party, the largest donation ever made to a British political party. The contribution was made to ensure a 'fair fight' at the polls, according to Delo.

Delo co-founded the BitMEX cryptocurrency exchange and previously gave £9 million to Reform UK in August 2023 through billionaire Christopher Harborne. However, this latest donation is significantly larger, representing nearly one month's worth of donations until a general election in 2029, although Delo chose to make the entire payment upfront.

Farage thanked Delo for his support, stating that he knows Reform UK is 'the only party that can turn the country around and reverse Britain's decline.'

The donation has raised concerns about the influence of digital assets on UK politics. Labour MPs were considering making a moratorium on crypto donations permanent in response to the scandal surrounding Farage's previous donors, Harborne and George Cottrell.
