Regulators Accelerate Crypto Adoption Amid CLARITY Act Delays
Despite the CLARITY Act's delay in the Senate, key US regulators are pushing forward to boost crypto adoption. The SEC has granted temporary exemptions to tokenized securities venues (TSV) like Robinhood and Coinbase, allowing them to operate until September 17, 2031. This move will speed up crypto market adoption, especially by institutional investors.
The CFTC has issued indefinite industry-wide no-action relief for non-custodial software and wallet developers, protecting them from registration as introducing brokers or associated persons. Tech providers routing users to CFTC-regulated exchanges without holding customer funds won't face enforcement action.
The FDIC has also cleared the way for state banks to operate on equal footing with national ones, eliminating restrictive out-of-state rules and allowing state-chartered banks to roll out digital asset tools nationwide. These reforms could give the Senate a chance to progress the CLARITY Act and boost crypto adoption in the US.
