Regulatory Clarity Key to Tokenization Scaling
The London Blockchain Finance Summit convened to discuss the path forward for tokenization scaling. Despite its growing adoption, the industry still faces challenges in creating a fertile ground for it to scale. The summit brought together experts from decentralized finance (DeFi) and traditional finance (TradFi) sectors to chart a course forward. They agreed that greater regulatory clarity can provide the necessary standards required for interoperability, which will allow tokenization to scale.
The tokenization of real-world assets has reached new heights, with on-chain equity volumes surging 145% to $3.86 billion in the wake of the June SpaceX IPO. The RWA tokenization market is valued at $60 billion across 7,000 products, and some predict it will reach $5.5 trillion by 2030.
However, a worrying stat emerged: of the 1,289 surveyed tokenized assets above $100,000 in value, 910, representing $32.9 billion, showed zero weekly transfer activity. This suggests that putting assets on chain is not the problem; rather, it's making this market more accessible to more people.
