Regulatory Clarity Still on Track Despite CLARITY Act Stalemate
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong expressed disappointment that the CLARITY Act did not advance in the Senate, but said regulatory clarity for digital assets will still emerge through the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Armstrong stated that the SEC and CFTC already have the tools they need under existing authority to create clear rules for digital assets and expects them to begin this work in earnest.
The Coinbase CEO emphasized that the crypto market will receive regulatory clarity, either through Congress or regulators. He mentioned that efforts to build out the framework will continue through regulators even if Congress does not pass legislation on the CLARITY Act.
