Remittix Challenges XRP's Cross-Border Payments Dominance
XRP's dominance in cross-border payments has been a recurring theme in the crypto market, with Ripple's institutional payment solutions driving interest in the token. However, a new project, Remittix, is testing a crucial aspect of the payments process: converting cryptocurrencies into fiat currency in a bank account.
Remittix has invited 1,000 existing RTX holders to test its PayFi service, which allows users to convert EUR and USD cryptocurrencies into bank deposits. This service aims to solve the final step in the payment process, where users can receive spendable money in their bank accounts.
The World Bank estimates global remittances at $856 billion in 2024, and a service capturing only 0.1% of this market could process close to $1 billion in transfers, generating millions in fees. Remittix has already reported over 10,000 iOS wallet downloads and $50 million in cumulative Markets trading volume.
Remittix's planned RTX debut on November 24 will mark the launch of its PayFi service, which could potentially disrupt XRP's dominance in cross-border payments. With a large and recurring market, Remittix's success could lead to significant growth in its user base and fees.
