Remixpoint Loses Money on Dogecoin Sales Amid Mixed Altcoin Results
Japan-listed Remixpoint has reported mixed results from its altcoin sales. The company made gains on ether, solana, and XRP, but lost money on Dogecoin. Remixpoint sold 2.8 million DOGE on September 1 for approximately $234,000, which is about $21,000 below the book value at the start of the fiscal year.
The company's sale of altcoins was part of a broader effort to review market conditions and risk-return characteristics. Remixpoint will now focus its crypto holdings in Bitcoin. The firm still owns around 1,506 BTC, worth over $115 million at current prices, making Bitcoin its only remaining cryptocurrency.
Dogecoin's loss stands out because it is not a fringe token in Japan. It has been traded on registered exchanges since 2022 and has an official reference price published by the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association alongside other major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and ether.
