Revolut Customers Face Identity Theft After Hackers Demand $3 Million

A group of hackers has compromised the sensitive information of over 680 Revolut customers, including high-net-worth individuals from 31 countries. The attackers posed as Italian law enforcement for months, convincing Revolut to hand over passports, selfies, and full transaction histories.

The hackers used blockchain analysis to identify the targeted accounts and created a fake email account using an Italian government agency's domain. They submitted law enforcement information requests over several months, which were verified by Revolut without raising any alarms.

The attackers now demand 6,000 Monero (worth approximately $3 million) in exchange for not selling the stolen data on the black market. However, it is unclear whether they will actually receive the ransom or if this is just a publicity stunt.
