Revolut Falls Victim to Spoofed Government Email, Bitcoin Data Compromised

Revolut has suffered a significant data breach after its employees mistakenly released sensitive customer information to an unauthorized recipient. The company claims that it received what appeared to be a legitimate government email request, which was actually a spoofed message from a genuine agency domain.

The compromised data included personal identifiers such as names, birth dates, and addresses, as well as passport documentation, verification photographs, and financial statements. Bitcoin wallet identifiers and complete cryptocurrency transaction records were also leaked.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT noted that the breach scope appears to be contained and may have specifically targeted wealthy account holders. Revolut's global customer base exceeds 80 million users, but the company has not disclosed precise figures regarding affected customer accounts.
