Revolut Hackers Demand $3 Million in Monero Ransom
Italian authorities have opened an investigation into a data breach involving Revolut customers. The attackers claimed to be behind the incident, which compromised hundreds of customer records, demanded 6,000 XMR (worth around $3 million) in ransom.
The group, calling itself 'iamnotavillain', threatened to sell sensitive information, including passports, driving licenses, and transaction histories, if Revolut didn't pay. The attackers allegedly used a compromised government email account to obtain the records, claiming they identified crypto holders through blockchain analysis.
Revolut has stated that none of its internal or client funds have been affected by the breach. Italian prosecutors and anti-mafia authorities are now investigating the incident. Revolut is cooperating with regulators and law enforcement bodies, offering support to affected customers.
