Revolut Hackers Demand $3M Monero Ransom Over Data Breach

Revolut customers are facing a potential data breach after hackers gained access to sensitive information through a government email impersonation scheme. The attackers, who call themselves 'iamnotavillain', claim to have obtained records from approximately 680 customer accounts.

The group is demanding 6,000 Monero (XMR) worth around $3 million in exchange for not selling the stolen data on the black market. They stated that they analyzed blockchain transactions to identify customers with significant crypto holdings, making them a priority target.

Revolut has denied receiving direct contact from the hackers and refuses to pay any ransom. The company claims that affected customers are being supported, but the incident highlights the risk of personal data being linked to blockchain-related financial details.
