Revolut Wins Conditional Approval for US National Bank Charter with Stablecoin Plans
Revolut has taken a significant step towards establishing its US bank operations. On September 3, 2026, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted Revolut conditional approval for a national bank charter in the US.
The proposed entity, Revolut Bank US, N.A., will be headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, with an additional office in New York. The company plans to rely on its app and existing ATM infrastructure for cash access, rather than building a branch network.
Revolut's product list includes FDIC-insured checking accounts, credit cards, installment loans, and foreign exchange. Multi-currency deposits across more than 30 currencies will be available, along with crypto trading and stablecoins.
The company has also launched its euro-backed stablecoin, EURR, in Europe on August 26, 2026. However, the US stablecoin plan is still undefined, and any dollar token would need to satisfy the GENIUS Act, which became law in July 2025.
