Riot Lands $9.1B Compute Deal with AI Startup Anthropic

Riot Platforms, a leading Bitcoin miner, has secured a massive $9.1B compute deal with AI startup Anthropic. The agreement will see Riot supply 191 megawatts of power from its Rockdale, Texas campus to support Anthropic's artificial intelligence operations over the next two decades.

The contract is significant not only for its size but also for its duration, running through June 2048. Two five-year extension options could further boost the deal's value to $16.1B.

Riot had previously expanded into data center leasing with a partnership with Advanced Micro Devices in January. The new contract marks a major milestone in Riot's strategy to monetize its power and data center capacity beyond Bitcoin mining.
