Riot Repays Coinbase Loan, Unlocks Held Bitcoin
Riot Platforms has completed its repayment of a $200 million loan from Coinbase, freeing up 5,821 BTC that were previously used as collateral. The repayment was made on September 21 and covered all outstanding principal and accrued interest.
The loan facility had been established in April 2025 with an initial commitment of $100 million, which was later increased to $200 million the following month. The facility carried a fixed annual interest rate of 6.15% and was scheduled to mature on April 20, 2027.
At the time the loan was taken out, the 5,821 BTC pledged as collateral were valued at approximately $340.7 million, representing around 51% of Riot's total Bitcoin holdings as of June 30.
