Ripple Adds Machine Payments Protocol Support to XRPL AI Starter Kit
Ripple has released an updated version of its XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit, which now includes support for the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP). This new feature allows developers to enable XRP payments for AI agents and automated services. MPP was developed by Stripe and Tempo as a standard for machine-based online payments.
The addition of MPP to the XRPL AI Starter Kit gives developers more payment-standard choices, alongside x402, which was added in June. This expands the options available to developers building AI agents that require XRP payments. The goal is to make XRP and RLUSD available as payment choices inside services that charge software for each request.
XRP payment channels can support repeated small payments without recording every request on-chain. This means that AI agents can place XRP into a channel, complete many paid requests, and approve more spending after each task, allowing providers to collect the total later without recording each transaction on the blockchain.
