Ripple and CSD BR Bring Brazilian Fund Records onto XRP Ledger
Ripple has announced that Brazilian financial market infrastructure operator CSD BR is mirroring holding records for BTG Pactual investment fund shares onto the XRP Ledger.
The arrangement, which was launched on September 30th, uses Ripple's custody technology alongside native XRP Ledger functions to create a mirrored record of ownership. This allows authorized participants to compare the blockchain copy with CSD BR's official records in near real-time.
CSD BR administers over BRL 22 trillion (approximately $4 trillion) in registered assets, making it one of the largest financial market infrastructure operators in Brazil. The partnership between Ripple and CSD BR is significant because it represents the first time a licensed central securities depository has recorded securities ownership on a public blockchain.
The XRP Ledger copy does not replace the official register maintained by CSD BR, but rather serves as an additional record and audit layer. This setup allows CSD BR to maintain control over which institutions can participate and how tokenized records are managed.
