Ripple and Privy, a wallet infrastructure firm owned by Stripe, have announced a partnership to integrate XRP Ledger (XRPL) support into Privy's developer platform. This collaboration enables developers to easily add XRPL wallets to their applications without having to build the underlying infrastructure. The integration supports the creation and management of wallets, transaction signing, and handling of assets like XRP, Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin, and other tokens issued on the network.
Henri Stern, co-founder and CEO of Privy, highlighted the growing role of stablecoins in payments and expressed excitement about making Privy wallets available to developers working on XRPL. Privy's embedded wallets allow users to manage their crypto assets directly within an app, eliminating the need for separate wallet connections. Users also have the option to export their private keys and seed phrases if they choose to move their wallets elsewhere.
Privy plans to expand the integration over time by adding features like policy controls and gas sponsorship, which would enable developers to set transaction rules and cover network fees for users. The partnership aligns with Stripe's broader expansion into stablecoin and crypto services, despite Stripe's acquisition of Privy last year, which continues to operate independently.
The collaboration also introduces support for AI agents to manage wallets and facilitate x402 payments, which allow software and AI agents to pay for online services. Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, emphasized that Privy's infrastructure simplifies the integration of XRPL into real-world products, including payments and stablecoin experiences.
