Ripple and SWIFT Fuel XRP Alliance Speculation at Sibos 2026
The XRP community is abuzz with speculation about a potential alliance between Ripple and SWIFT, the global interbank messaging network. The timing of this rumor is significant, as both companies are attending Sibos 2026 in Miami, where SWIFT will unveil its blockchain-based shared ledger and outline its digital-asset ambitions.
Ripple Treasury has been attending Sibos since 2018 and has existing connections to the broader SWIFT ecosystem. The company's acquisition of GTreasury brought with it treasury-management infrastructure that supports SWIFT connectivity, as well as SWIFT Compatible Application certification for cash-management services.
While this existing relationship is focused on connecting corporate treasury platforms with banks and SWIFT's messaging infrastructure, some in the XRP community are speculating about a potential integration of XRP into SWIFT's evolving blockchain architecture. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has stated that XRP could capture 14% of the volume processed through SWIFT within five years.
