Ripple Brings Blockchain to Brazil's Securities Infrastructure
Ripple has announced a significant partnership with CSD BR, Brazil's regulated capital market infrastructure. This collaboration will bring blockchain technology to the country's existing securities infrastructure, starting with BTG Pactual investment fund shares.
The XRP Ledger will mirror these assets onchain using the Multi-Purpose Token standard. Ripple will provide custody infrastructure alongside the XRP Ledger to support tokenized assets within a regulated environment.
CSD BR manages over BRL 22 trillion in registered assets and can process millions of transactions within minutes. The organization aims to evaluate how blockchain technology can improve transparency, traceability, automation, and operational efficiency.
Ripple's Managing Director for Latin America, Silvio Pegado, described the partnership as a major development for the industry. He emphasized that financial institutions can incorporate distributed ledger technology within a regulated framework.
