Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has made some surprising comments about his company's flagship asset XRP. In an appearance on January 22, he said that XRP isn't always the best payment asset for every use case.

Garlinghouse also revealed that he personally owns Solana (SOL), a token often seen as a competitor to XRP. He rejected the idea that investors need to choose between SOL and XRP, stating that multiple major cryptocurrencies can perform well over time.

Ripple's broader multichain strategy is consistent with Garlinghouse's view. The company has already expanded into the Solana ecosystem through wrapped XRP (wXRP), which launched on Solana in a previous development.
